A tragic incident occurred in Rochester, New York, as a man and woman were charged with manslaughter after their 3-month-old baby was fatally mauled by two dogs. Sulamain Hawkins and Anastasia Weaver, both 19 years old, left their baby alone in the attic while they went downstairs to smoke marijuana, according to Rochester police.
Upon returning to the attic, Hawkins and Weaver discovered that their child, Sulamain Hawkins Jr., had been attacked by one or both of the dogs. The baby was immediately rushed to a hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
Following an investigation conducted by the police, child protective services, and the Monroe County district attorney’s office, Hawkins and Weaver were arrested on Wednesday. They appeared in court on Thursday where they faced charges of manslaughter. Their next court appearance is scheduled for August 27.
