Real Madrid and Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing central midfielder Fabian Ruiz, who impressed for Spain at Euro 2024. The 28-year-old currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in Ligue 1, having previously played for Napoli in Italy.
During Spain’s successful Euro 2024 campaign, Fabian stood out alongside Nico Williams, Lamine Yamal, and Rodri. He scored goals against Croatia in the group stage and Georgia in the round of 16.
According to Spanish publication SPORT, Real Madrid is interested in Fabian despite already having a strong midfield lineup that includes Federico Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, and the veteran Luka Modric. It is worth noting that Carlo Ancelotti has previously worked with Fabian during their time together at Napoli.
Fabian could be an intriguing addition to Real Madrid’s squad as they already boast one of the strongest teams in world football.
Barcelona is also said to hold interest in Fabian. Despite their financial constraints, they have recently strengthened their midfield options with the arrival of Dani Olmo. Barcelona remains committed to bolstering their squad to challenge their fierce rivals.
Head coach Hansi Flick is reportedly keen on strengthening Barcelona’s midfield further and has Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka from Bayern Munich on his shortlist of targets. Frenkie de Jong’s potential departure could create space for a possible arrival like Fabian Ruiz.
