Sharp Corp. has revealed its first electric vehicle prototype, the “LDK+” model, which features a spacious interior resembling a living room and a large LCD display. The company plans to make this vehicle commercially available in the coming years. This move by Sharp comes as Sony Group and Honda are also collaborating on an electric vehicle project, indicating that competition in this sector is set to intensify.
The LDK+ is being showcased for the first time and was developed by Sharp using a chassis provided by its parent company, Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. One of the standout features of this prototype is a 65-inch display installed at the rear of the vehicle, which can be used as either a workspace or even transformed into a theater room. Additionally, an AI system within the vehicle learns how users utilize home appliances and automatically adjusts factors such as air conditioning and lighting to create an optimal interior environment.
For those interested in seeing this innovative prototype firsthand, it will be on public display until Wednesday at Tokyo International Forum’s “Sharp Tech Day” exhibition located in Chiyoda Ward.
With Sharp entering the electric vehicle market alongside other major players like Sony Group and Honda, it’s clear that there is growing interest and investment in developing sustainable transportation options for consumers. As these companies continue to push boundaries with their EV prototypes, it will be interesting to see how they differentiate themselves from one another while striving towards creating more eco-friendly vehicles for future generations.
