Tito Jackson, a member of the famous pop group the Jackson 5, has passed away at the age of 70. Tito was part of a musical family that included his siblings Michael and Janet, who are still beloved for their songs today. In a statement posted on Instagram, Tito’s sons TJ, Taj, and Taryll expressed their shock and sadness at his passing. The Jackson 5, consisting of Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael Jackson, achieved great success in the 1970s with hits like “ABC,” “I Want You Back,” and ”I’ll Be There.” Under the guidance of their father Joe Jackson, they became one of the biggest names in music.
Born on October 15th, 1953 as Toriano Adaryll “Tito” Jackson, he played guitar and served as a background singer for the group. While his brothers pursued solo careers after the disbandment of the Jackson 5 and achieved immense fame—especially Michael as The King of Pop—Tito remained dedicated to raising his three sons: TJ,Taj,and Taryll.
In an interview with The Associated Press in December 2009 following Michael’s death earlier that year,Tito spoke about how it brought their family closer together but admitted he would never be at peace with it. He also mentioned that they still felt Michael’s absence during their shows.
Days before his passing,Tito visited a memorial dedicated to Michael in Germany alongside his brothers Jackie and Marlon. He expressed gratitude for this special place that honored both Michael’s memory and their shared legacy.
In addition to being part of the legendary musical family,Tito released his debut solo project titled “Tito Time” in 2016.He continued working on music,releasing a song called”One Way Street”in2017.He also collaborated with Stevie Wonder on a single called”Love One Another,”which featured his sons’ music group3T.
Tito is survived by his brothers Jermaine,Randy.Marlon,and Jackie,his sisters Janet.Rebbie.and La Toya,and their mother Katherine.Their father Joe passed away in2018.Entertainment Tonight first reported Tito’s death.
