Two Japanese Nationals Escape Lebanon on Chartered Ship

Two Japanese nationals have successfully escaped Lebanon and arrived in Cyprus on a ship chartered‌ by the ⁣Japanese ‍government, according to an announcement⁣ made by the government on Thursday. The evacuation was carried out ‍due to the escalating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

The Japanese Foreign Ministry has reported that⁣ approximately 50 Japanese citizens are currently residing in Lebanon. In light of this,⁢ Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya contacted his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi,⁤ via phone on Thursday to ensure the safety of these individuals in Jordan.

In response, Safadi assured Iwaya that Jordan is fully committed to ensuring the safety of all Japanese ⁢nationals within its borders. Expressing deep concern over Israel’s ground offensive in Lebanon, Iwaya ‍emphasized‍ the urgent need for an​ immediate ceasefire.

During their conversation, both ministers⁣ agreed on the significance of exercising ‌maximum restraint from both sides involved in the conflict. They also pledged to collaborate closely with each other in order to prevent any further escalations.

To prepare for any potential evacuations from Lebanon, a Japanese Self-Defense Forces ⁣aircraft ‍will ⁢be placed ⁤on standby⁣ in Jordan. This measure aims to provide swift assistance ⁣if necessary and ensure the safe return of all affected Japanese citizens.

The situation remains tense as‍ fighting continues between Israel and Hezbollah. The evacuation efforts​ undertaken by Japan reflect ⁢their commitment to safeguarding their citizens amidst this volatile​ situation.
