Typhoon Krathon is expected to reach Taiwan on Thursday after moving northward over the sea south of the country. The storm is also predicted to approach the Yaeyama region in Okinawa Prefecture from Thursday through Saturday. The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued a warning for residents to be cautious of high waves, strong winds, and mudslides. As of 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Typhoon Krathon, also known as Typhoon No.18 in Japan, was stationary with a central pressure of 950 hectopascals and maximum instantaneous wind speed of 45 meters per second (162 kph).
