Elon Musk Contemplates Reinstating Alex Jones on X Platform
In a surprising turn of events, Elon Musk has sparked a debate about the possibility of reinstating controversial figure Alex Jones on the X platform. Jones, the founder of Infowars, was banned from X/Twitter for life in September 2018.
The decision to ban Alex Jones from Twitter was made by the former CEO, Jack Dorsey, more than 5 years ago. Jones reportedly faced the ban after confronting CNN’s Oliver Darcy, which led to a violation of the platform’s abusive behavior policy.
Upon banning Jones, Twitter Safety released a statement saying, “Today, we permanently suspended @realalexjones and @infowars from Twitter and Periscope. We took this action based on new reports of Tweets and videos posted yesterday that violate our abusive behavior policy, in addition to the accounts’ past violations.”
Twitter’s move also extended to almost all accounts associated with Alex Jones and Infowars. The platform stated, “We will continue to evaluate reports we receive regarding other accounts potentially associated with @realalexjones or @infowars and will take action if content that violates our rules is reported or if other accounts are utilized in an attempt to circumvent their ban.”
Recently, Elon Musk took to X to gauge users’ opinions about potentially reinstating Alex Jones on the platform. He initiated a poll with the question, “Reinstate Alex Jones on this platform?” and added, “Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” signaling the voice of the people is the voice of God.
