Karl Rove Forecasts that Colorado Supreme Court’s Decision on Trump will Have Negative Consequences

Karl Rove, the well-known political strategist, has voiced his opinion about the controversial Colorado Supreme Court ruling to remove former President Donald Trump from the state’s ballot. Rove believes that this decision will actually benefit the former president and backfire on the Democrats. In an interview with Fox News, he stated that the ruling will make Trump appear as a victim and that it reflects unfair partisanship.

According to Rove, the court’s interpretation of the 14th Amendment’s provision is akin to the Reconstruction era and represents a clear example of political motives. He pointed out that the provision has only been used twice in the country’s history, making the decision a highly political one by the hard left side of American politics.

The majority of the Colorado Supreme Court, made up of justices appointed by Democrats, ruled that Trump is disqualified from the state’s ballot under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. This section prohibits individuals engaged in “insurrection or rebellion” from holding federal office. The ruling is currently pending review by the U.S. Supreme Court, which Trump has declared he will immediately seek.

Meanwhile, lower court judges also ruled on the matter, with one stating that Trump’s alleged actions during the U.S. Capitol breach amounted to insurrection. However, this judge stopped short of disqualifying him, claiming that Section 3 does not apply to presidents.

It is also important to note that President Trump has not been convicted of insurrection by a jury and has not been afforded the rights to subpoena records or compel witnesses to testify in the case. His lawyers may argue that his due process rights were violated under the Fourteenth Amendment if the case reaches the U.S. Supreme Court.

Whether or not the ruling is upheld, its impact on the 2024 election is questionable due to the unlikelihood of Trump winning the Democratic-leaning state of Colorado.

The latest court ruling in Colorado is part of a series of legal battles in various states to disqualify Trump from the ballot. This Colorado case was based on allegations that Trump attempted to obstruct the transfer of the presidency to Joe Biden after the 2020 election.

In response to the ruling, conservative commentators, including former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, have criticized it as undemocratic. They argued that it goes against the principles of democracy and justice, especially since Trump has not been convicted by any court of insurrection.

The ruling has sparked heated debates across the country, with Democrats and Republicans expressing starkly different views on the matter.

In light of these developments, the legal and political landscape surrounding Trump’s eligibility for the 2024 election remains uncertain, and it is expected to remain a divisive issue for some time.
