Luke Shaw discusses the challenges Manchester United faces in scoring goals

Manchester United’s Luke Shaw has bemoaned the team’s lack of attacking prowess following their eighth Premier League loss of the season. The Red Devils were defeated 2-0 by West Ham United on Saturday, despite having 66% possession. They managed only three shots on target, continuing their scoring drought, with just two goals in their last six games.

This lack of sharpness in front of goal can be attributed to the ineffective performances of Rasmus Hojlund, Marcus Rashford, and Antony, who have combined for just two Premier League goals this season, both from Rashford. Shaw expressed his frustration, saying, “It’s tough to think what’s going on. I think maybe we’re just not creating enough and when we do, on the other hand, we’re not clinical.”

The defender pointed out the team’s struggle to convert chances, stating, “Maybe it could be a lack of confidence at the moment. Sometimes that’s normal in football, it happens. We have to try and keep staying positive.” He emphasized the need for a swift turnaround, as they are set to face Aston Villa in their upcoming match.

Shaw continued, “We can’t feel sorry for ourselves. We have to pick ourselves up and go again. It’s a home game and we can’t keep dropping points, we have to win games.” He acknowledged that the team’s recent form is not good enough, especially in the second half of games.

The left-back highlighted the need to be more clinical in front of goal and expressed regret for not converting chances in the first half, which he believes could have changed the outcome of the game. Despite the disappointment, he is determined to bounce back and deliver a positive result in the upcoming match against Aston Villa.

Manchester United will have the opportunity to redeem themselves on Boxing Day when they face a tough test against Aston Villa at Old Trafford. The team will be eager to put an end to their scoring drought and secure a much-needed victory. The upcoming fixture will be crucial for their aspirations this season.
