Several Dead, Dozens Wounded in Mass Shooting at Prague School, Say Police

Tragedy struck Charles University near Jan Palach Square in Prague on Thursday as a mass shooting left several dead and dozens wounded. Police have confirmed that the shooter has been “eliminated.”

Amid the chaos, video and photos surfaced online showing panicked students fleeing the scene, while others barricaded themselves in classrooms and tried to escape the shooter.

Sporadic gunfire can be heard in some of the videos, with uncertainty on whether it was from law enforcement or the shooter.

According to translated reports by Czech police, the entire area around Náměstí Jan Palach was closed, and authorities urged citizens to stay away from the immediate vicinity and remain indoors. The police intervention was ongoing as they evacuated the entire building. The reports also confirmed multiple casualties and injuries from the shooting.

An alleged photo of the shooter has also surfaced, adding to the chilling nature of the incident.

Amongst the terror, reports confirmed that the shooter has been eliminated by police, but the full extent of the damage caused by the shooting is still being assessed.

Following the tragedy, students were seen on a ledge trying to escape the shooting, while others took to social media to share their harrowing experiences of barricading themselves in classrooms to evade the shooter.
