Eventually, the young boy managed to call his grandmother and explain where he was, leaving Ramos understandably shaken by the entire ordeal.
Spirit Airlines has offered to reimburse Ramos for the long drive to Orlando, but she is demanding answers as to how such a critical error could have occurred. She is seeking clarification on whether the flight attendant allowed her grandson to board the wrong flight alone and is calling on the airline to provide a full explanation for the mix-up.
In response to the incident, Michael Lopardi from Spirit Airlines released a statement to WINK News, acknowledging the error and apologizing to the family for the distressing experience. Lopardi emphasized that the child had been under the care and supervision of a Spirit team member at all times and that immediate steps were taken to rectify the situation as soon as the error was discovered.
The statement further added that Spirit Airlines takes the safety and responsibility of transporting all of its guests seriously and has launched an internal investigation to prevent similar incidents in the future.
