Vinicius Junior Making Faster Than Expected Recovery from Hamstring Injury

Vinicius Junior’s recovery from a hamstring injury is believed to be progressing well and could see him back in action for Real Madrid sooner than initially feared. The 23-year-old sustained the injury during Brazil’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against Colombia, and concerns were initially raised that he could be sidelined for up to three months. However, a report from The Athletic suggests that Vinicius is on track to make a swift return, with club sources not ruling out his potential participation in the Spanish Super Cup.

The Spanish Super Cup is scheduled to take place on January 10 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and features Real Madrid, Barcelona, Osasuna, and Atletico Madrid. Real Madrid’s opening game will be against Atletico, with Barcelona set to face Osasuna the following day. The winners of the two matches will then compete in the final on January 14.

Vinicius had previously spent a month on the sidelines earlier in the season and has now missed Real Madrid’s last 11 games due to his latest hamstring injury. Despite his absence, the 14-time Champions League winners have managed to maintain their impressive form in La Liga, currently sitting at the top of the table alongside Girona. This has largely been attributed to the outstanding performances of Jude Bellingham, who has scored 15 goals in his first 17 appearances for Madrid in all competitions.

Bellingham’s impact has been particularly evident in his game-winning goal against Barcelona in his first Clasico. However, the English midfielder has also faced his own injury concerns after recently dislocating his shoulder. While he has since returned to action, there are lingering concerns about the possibility of surgery if the issue resurfaces.

Real Madrid will undoubtedly be eager to welcome back Vinicius and ensure that both he and Bellingham are fully fit for the upcoming fixtures. The return of these key players could prove crucial as they aim to maintain their position at the top of La Liga and continue their pursuit of silverware on both domestic and European fronts. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on their recovery and the impact they can make upon their return to the pitch.
