Barca’s player ratings after being held to a frustrating draw

Barcelona faced a setback in their pursuit of the La Liga title after being held to a 1-1 draw by Valencia on Saturday. Joao Felix gave Barcelona the lead with a tap-in early in the second half. The team was frustrated by Valencia’s excellent goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. Valencia managed to equalize with an excellent goal from Hugo Guillamon, extending Barcelona’s winless run to three games across all competitions.

Barcelona had a major scare early in the match, with Inaki Pena making an excellent save to deny Roman Yaremchuk just 90 seconds into the game. Robert Lewandowski also had a couple of chances but was unable to find the back of the net. Barcelona’s best opportunities came on the counter, with Joao Cancelo causing problems with his over-the-top passes.

Barcelona found the breakthrough ten minutes into the second half, with a pass from Frenkie de Jong finding Raphinha, who set up Felix for the opening goal. However, Valencia managed to equalize with a stunning effort from Guillamon, leaving Pena with no chance to make a save. Mamardashvili denied Barcelona an immediate response with a save from point-blank range, and Valencia held on for the draw.

In the player ratings, Pena received a 7/10 for his solid performance in goal. Cancelo also received a 7/10 for his exceptional playmaking. De Jong and Pedri received a 7/10 for their energetic performances in midfield, while Lewandowski was given a 6/10 for not being at his sharpest. Xavi, the Barcelona manager, was rated a 5/10 for his changes at half-time but being unable to find a solution after Valencia’s equalizer.

Unfortunately for Barcelona, the draw leaves them falling short in the La Liga title race as they continue to struggle to secure victories. The team will need to regroup and find a way to get back to winning ways in their upcoming matches.
