Japan’s Tallest Skyscraper in Tokyo Stands at 330 Meters

In a remarkable architectural achievement, Mori Building Co. announced the completion of Japan’s tallest skyscraper, towering over Tokyo at an impressive height of 330 meters. Surpassing the previous record-holder by 30 meters, the Azabudai Hills Mori JP Tower building has become a prominent landmark in the Minato Ward area of the city.

A Landmark of Azabudai Hills Redevelopment

The Azabudai Hills Mori JP Tower stands as the centerpiece of the ongoing redevelopment project known as “Azabudai Hills.” Set to open fully this fall, the project aims to transform the Minato Ward district into a vibrant hub of tall office buildings and luxurious condominiums.

Featuring 64 floors above ground and an additional five underground levels, the new building offers upscale residences with exclusive services, including a spa, provided by renowned luxury hotel operator Aman Resorts. In addition, the tower will house the prestigious British School in Tokyo and a medical institution operated by Keio University. Retail shops, restaurants, and various corporate offices will also find their place within the building complex, as detailed by Mori Building.

Surpassing Previous Heights

With its completion, the Azabudai Hills Mori JP Tower has surpassed the previous titleholder, the 300-meter Abeno Harukas in Osaka, to claim the title of Japan’s tallest building. However, the record may be short-lived, as Mitsubishi Estate Co. has plans to construct a towering structure near Tokyo Station, expected to reach a remarkable height of 390 meters by fiscal 2027.
