Real Madrid’s decision on how to handle Arda Guler’s injury ordeal

Real Madrid’s young talent Arda Guler has been declared unavailable for selection until 2024 in order to allow him sufficient time to regain fitness at the club’s training base. The 18-year-old, who joined Los Blancos from Fenerbahce over the summer, has yet to make his debut for the club and has been struggling with knee and muscle injuries. Although he was an unused substitute for games against Braga and Rayo Vallecano in early November, Guler has primarily been sidelined due to fitness issues.

Guler is currently training individually at Madrid’s Valdebebas training facility, and it has been reported that the club will implement precautionary measures to ensure a smooth return to competitive action, ruling him out of senior games until the new year. While Guler is eager to get back on the pitch, the medical and technical staff at Real Madrid are taking a cautious approach to his recovery and are not rushing his return.

Madrid provisionally hopes to see Guler return for their Copa del Rey tie at Arandina on January 6, as well as for their semi-finals of the Supercopa de Espana against Atletico on January 10 in Saudi Arabia. In addition to Guler, the club is also aiming to give Vinicius Junior time to recover from a thigh problem until 2024, and there is currently no set return date for Eduardo Camavinga, who is dealing with a knee ligament injury.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti has been coping with various injury problems throughout the season, with his team currently sitting in second place in La Liga behind Girona. However, they have secured qualification to the last 16 of the Champions League after winning all six of their group stage fixtures.

The approach taken by Real Madrid to allow Guler to fully recover before returning to action demonstrates their commitment to the long-term development of their young talent, prioritizing his health and well-being over immediate on-field contributions. This will allow Guler to focus on rebuilding his fitness and ultimately make a strong contribution to the team in the future.

With several key players currently sidelined due to injuries, Real Madrid will be looking to maintain their form and compete at the highest level as they strive for success in domestic and European competitions. The club’s resources and support will be crucial in supporting the rehabilitation and recovery of their injured players, ensuring that they are able to return to action in peak condition.
